Driven to Read has officially been awarded Non-Profit status by the state of North Carolina. The organization, which encourages young children to read through the excitement of race car driving, was awarded the status on June 15th. Now that Driven to Read has reached this milestone, the growth of the organization will continue and will be reaching more and more children soon to come.

With the new status, Driven to Read will look for donors to help the growth of this program take off and help change lives.

The goals of the program will be easier to meet since Driven to Read is a non-profit organization; schools and students across the country and across the globe will be able to participate. While growth is in the forefront, the goal is to continue to help inspire children to read and become excited about learning. Driven to Read remains dedicated to revving up a child’s engine for reading through this exciting program.

Driven to Read is eager to get to a point where one of its main goals is to help schools that participate receive 200 individual Driven to Read backpacks with books for students to take home to read. Each student will have a backpack with a book inside and when he or she is done with that book, they will exchange their backpack with another to get a new book.

Davis’ history of helping students learn and grow dates back to when he was just 13-years-old when he began teaching about the math and science used in racing, along with the safeties of driving and the importance of wearing a helmet.
